Merry Christmas
Tuesday, 23 December 2008 22:41

We at Selah House want to wish all of you and your families a very merry Christmas and a season of hope in God. If any of you are struggling with an eating disorder, it can seem more difficult during the holidays. As we approach a new year, it may be a good time to evaluate whether treatment could be a good step for you or a family member. An eating disorder assessment can help make a determination as to the current state of the disorder and level of treatment needed. Call our office at 888-641-0022 to schedule an appointment. Assessments can be done over the phone if needed, and the medical testing portion is done through your local family doctor or clinic and then evaluated by our specialists.

We pray you will enjoy your friends and family this Christmas and New Years. Count your blessings, trust in God and remember He loves you. We truly care and pray for freedom in the lives of those struggling this season.

Article on Male Anorexia
Tuesday, 16 December 2008 18:50

There is an article on one of the ABC channel affiliates websites about male anorexia. Statistics on the rate at which eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia effect men and boys vary, but at least one out of every ten people with an eating disorder is male. The article includes an interesting bio and testimony of a man who struggled with an eating disorder and how he found freedom from it.

Here is an excerpt from the article: "While women are usually affected by eating disorders, it's estimated one million men and boys battle the illness every day. But the stigma for men is tremendous--mainly because eating disorders are thought of as a "girl's disease." So many males do not seek treatment. Patrick Bergstrom, of Hagerstown, Maryland, is determined to break the silence. "

New Jersey Bill to Require Better Coverage for Eating Disorders
Wednesday, 10 December 2008 16:03

An article on PolitickerNJ.com discusses a new bill up for review that would require all insurers in the state of New Jersey to provide the same coverage for eating disorder treatment that they provide for other biologically-based mental illnesses. This bill is similar to bills that have been formulated in other states and may improve insurance coverage for those with anorexia and bulimia.
